In this study, quantitative criteria for reconstruction of objects from their hologram and diffraction patterns, and in particular for the phase objects in digital holography, are derived. The criteria that allow distinguishing the hologram and diffr

We demonstrate that ultrastiff bonding between nanoparticles can be engineered by ad hoc assemblies of ligands, reaching strengths comparable to that of strong covalent bonds. Our observation relies on femtosecond small-angle electron diffraction.

The interaction of metals with carbon materials, specifically with graphene, is of importance for various technological applications. In particular, intercalation of alkali metals is believed to provide a means for tuning the electronic properties of

Conventional three-dimensional (3D) imaging methods require multiple measurements of the sample in different orientation or scanning. When the sample is probed with coherent waves, a single two-dimensional (2D) intensity measurement is sufficient as

Convergent beam electron diffraction (CBED) performed on two-dimensional (2D) materials recently emerged as a powerful tool to study structural and stacking defects, adsorbates, atomic 3D displacements in the layers, and the interlayer distances. The

Methods of three-dimensional deconvolution (3DD) or volumetric deconvolution of optical complex-valued wavefronts diffracted by 3D samples with the 3D point spread function are presented. Particularly, the quantitative correctness of the recovered 3D

The convergent beam electron diffraction (CBED) patterns of twisted bilayer samples exhibit interference patterns in their CBED spots. Such interference patterns can be treated as off-axis holograms and the phase of the scattered waves, meaning the i

Convergent beam electron diffraction is routinely applied for studying deformation and local strain in thick crystals by matching the crystal structure to the observed intensity distributions. Recently, it has been demonstrated that CBED can be appli
