Single crystal studies of the Li2B4O7 borate in a wide temperature range are performed. The studies confirm the smoothed nature of the temperature dependences of the c cell parameter and do not reveal any modulated phases at low temperature.

A new compound, SrPb3Br8, has been synthesized and investigated by X-ray diffraction and spectroscopic methods. Its crystal structure is described as follows: Pnma, a = 8.0056(4) A, b = 4.7359(2) A, and c = 9.5208(5) A. The crystals are transparent a
