A series of dihydrobenzo [a] xanthone derivatives has been prepared by thermal condensation of 2-ethoxycarbonyl-3,4-dihydro-[1H]-naphtalene-1-one and 1-ethoxycarbonyl-3, 4-dihydro-[2H]-naphtalene-2-one with phenolic substrates.
