SO2 reacts with cyclopentadienyluranium compounds having a uranium to carbon σ bond. At low temperature an insertion compound is yielded. At room temperature a subsequent reaction leads to an insoluble O-sulfinate: (C5H5)5U2- (CH3)2(SO2)4.
