Parameters of erythron and porphyrin exchange were studied during exercise. The long-term exercise (a few weeks) intensifies the synthesis of heme and hemoglobin before activation of the red cell proliferation.

Exercise was shown to activate the proliferation of red cells and their hemoglobin synthesis. Combination of heat exposure and physical exercise inhibited these processes.
