Optofluidic manipulation mechanisms have been successfully applied to micro/nano-scale assembly and handling applications in biophysics, electronics, and photonics. Here, we extend the laser-based optofluidic microbubble manipulation technique to ach
We discuss the rapid in situ hydrothermal synthesis of metal oxide materials based on the photothermal superheating of light-absorbing metal layers for simple and facile on-demand placement of semiconductor materials with micrometer-scale lateral res

Highly aligned intrinsic and indium doped CdS nanopillar arrays were fabricated via a template assisted Solid Source Chemical Vapor Deposition method (SSCVD). The prepared nanopillar arrays were well aligned, dense and uniform in diameter and length.

We demonstrate that randomly distributed metallic nanowires on the dielectric-metal slab waveguides can form Fabry-Perot-type optical cavities and achieve sufficient quality factors for lasing for the transverse electric waveguide mode.

We propose a modified nanopatch cavity with a cuboidal semiconductor sandwiched between extended metal planes. Experimental results show the quality factor of ~200 can be achieved with an effective mode volume of ~0.0064 cubic wavelength.
