The reaction trajectories of photoexcited molecules may involve transitions through conical intersections, which are ubiquitous in nature but challenging to characterize. Here the authors provide a complete mapping of molecular dissociation of two mo

Attosecond extreme ultraviolet (XUV) and soft x-ray sources provide powerful new tools for studying ultrafast molecular dynamics with atomic, state, and charge specificity. In this report, we employ attosecond transient absorption spectroscopy (ATAS)

The photodissociation dynamics of alkyl iodides along the C–I bond are captured by attosecond extreme-ultraviolet (XUV) transient absorption spectroscopy employing resonant ∼20 fs UV pump pulses. The methodology of previous experiments on CH3I [C

Using a few-cycle 100 MHz Er:fiber comb, we demonstrate solid state harmonic generation in ZnO yielding broadband spectra from 200-650 nm. Sensitivity to the driving pulse carrier envelope phase is demonstrated across the spectrum.

Attosecond probing of core-level electronic transitions in molecules provides a sensitive tool for real-time observation of chemical dynamics. Here, we employ ultrafast extreme-ultraviolet (XUV) transient-absorption spectroscopy to investigate the ex

A panoramic view of photodissociation As light pulses get shorter in time, they correspondingly get broader in frequency. Kobayashi et al. take advantage of both properties of attosecond pulses to elucidate iodine monobromide (IBr) photodissociation

Non-perturbative and phase-sensitive light-matter interactions have led to the generation of attosecond pulses of light and the control electrical currents on the same timescale. Traditionally, probing these effects via high harmonic generation has i
