Abstract Global eradication of poliovirus remains elusive, and it is critical to develop next generation vaccines and antivirals. In support of this goal, we map the epitope of human monoclonal antibody 9H2 which is able to neutralize the three serot

A universal microchip was developed for genotyping Influenza A viruses. It contains two sets of oligonucleotide probes allowing viruses to be classified by the subtypes of hemagglutinin (H1-H13, H15, H16) and neuraminidase (N1-N9). Additional sets of

Proteasome activity is an important part of viral replication. In this study, we examined the effect of proteasome inhibitors on the replication of vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) and poliovirus. We found that the proteasome inhibitors significantly

Replication of viruses leads to emergence of mutations and their content in viral populations can increase by selection depending on growth conditions. Some of these mutations have deleterious effect on vaccine safety, such as neurovirulent reversion

Cotton dust has been associated with byssinosis and toxic alveolitis. A murine animal model has been developed with which to investigate the pathogenesis of these disorders. Studies with the model have reproduced the neutrophilic inflammation charact

Summary Results of DNA-DNA hybridization and 5S rRNA sequencing studies on some strains of obligately and restricted facultatively methylotrophic bacteria support earlier proposed establishment of the genera Methylophilus, Methylobacillus and Methylo

Ribosomal 5SRNA (rRNA) was isolated from 12 strains belonging to the genera Acidomonas, Acetobacter and Gluconobacter and sequenced. A dendrogram constructed from the data indicated that methylotrophic and non-methylotrophic strains of the genus Acet

The generic position of 14 strains of gram-positive bacteria able to use methanol as a growth substrate was determined. All are obligately aerobic, thermotolerant organisms that are able to grow at temperatures of 35 to 60 degrees C. Nine of the stra

SUMMARY: Nucleotide sequences of 5S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) isolated from 19 strains of Gram-negative methylotrophic bacteria were determined. Comparison of these sequences allowed construction of a tentative phylogenetic tree and showed that the bacter
