The performance of a wide-band optical spectrum service is computed using individual segment characterizations and compared to measured end-to-end performance. An accuracy of ±1.4 dB is achieved for live network routes up to 3116 km.

We use channel probing to determine the best transponder configurations for spectral services in a long-haul production network. An estimation accuracy better than +/- 0,7dB in GSNR margin is obtained for lightpaths up to 5738km.
