A complete accounting of nearby objects—from the highest-mass white dwarf progenitors down to low-mass brown dwarfs—is now possible, thanks to an almost complete set of trigonometric parallax determinations from Gaia, ground-based surveys, and Sp

We identify two ultra-cool ($T_\mathrm{eff} < 4000$ K) metal-polluted (DZ) white dwarfs WDJ2147$-$4035 and WDJ1922$+$0233 as the coolest and second coolest DZ stars known to date with $T_\mathrm{eff} \approx 3050$ K and $T_\mathrm{eff} \approx 3340$

Doppler observations from Keck Observatory reveal the presence of a planet with Msini of 2.1 Mjup orbiting the M3V star HIP79431. This is the sixth giant planet to be detected in Doppler surveys of M dwarfs and it is one of the most massive planets d

Doppler velocity measurements from the Anglo-Australian Planet Search reveal planetary mass companions to HD23127, HD159868, and a possible second planetary companion to HD154857. These stars are all G dwarfs. The companions are all in eccentric orbi

The emerging statistical properties from the first 50 extrasolar planets are startlingly different from the picture that was imagined prior to 1995. About 0.75% of nearby solar type stars harbor jovian planets in 3 to 5 day circular orbits. Another

Precise Doppler observations at Lick Observatory have revealed a substellar companion orbiting the F9 V star HD 136118 with an orbital period P=1209 ± 24 days, velocity semiamplitude K = 212 ± 6 m s–1, and eccentricity of 0.37 ± 0.025. The assum

Precise Doppler measurements during 4.4 yr from the Keck/HIRES spectrometer reveal two superimposed Keplerian velocity variations for HD 168443 (G6 IV). A simultaneous orbital fit to both companions yields companion masses of M sin i = 7.7 and 17.2 M
