High-resolution multi-species spectroscopy is achieved by delivering broadband 3–4-μm mid-infrared light through a 4.5-meter-long silica-based hollow-core optical fiber. Absorptions from H37Cl, H35Cl, H2O and CH4 present in the gas within the fibe

We report mid-infrared heterodyne spectroscopy of a sample located at the distal end of a hollow-core fiber, providing excellent sensitivity, eliminating distal-end electronics and enabling common-mode rejection of parasitic absorptions in the delive

Optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) with broadband output in the mid-infrared are well suited for high resolution, high sensitivity multi-species infrared spectroscopy. Applications often require remote delivery, either over open-paths or via fiber

Here we report for the first time nonlinear frequency conversion in OP-GaP layers grown by hydride vapor-phase epitaxy on OP-GaAs templates. Multi-grating 3-inch wafer design enabled discrete wavelength tuning via stepped gratings, continuous tuning

Mid-infrared (mid-IR) light provides a means to identify molecules using ro-vibrational spectroscopy. Where measurement is required in a remote or hazardous environment, fibre delivery is convenient, but is limited by the scalability of fluoride and

A new approach to single-molecule DNA sequencing in which dNTPs, released by pyrophosphorolysis from the strand to be sequenced, are captured in microdroplets and read directly could have substantial advantages over current sequence-by-synthesis meth

We report for the first time nonlinear frequency conversion—specifically optical parametric oscillation—in OP-GaP layers grown by hydride vapor-phase epitaxy on 3-inch OP-GaAs templates. Continuous tuning with wavelength coverage from 3.9–12 µ

Using coherent broadband mid-infrared light from a picosecond optical parametric oscillator we introduce a flexible, easy to use, high-resolution technique which can be utilized to conduct remote stand-off, or fiber delivered, multi-species spectrosc

We report a blue-emitting random copolymer (termed modified Aryl-F8) consisting of three repeat units of polydioctylfluorene (F8), Aryl-polydioctylfluorene (Aryl-F8), and an aromatic amine comonomer unit, poly(bis-N,Ν′-(4-butylphenyl)-bis-N,N′-p

We use transient absorption spectroscopy to demonstrate that the dynamics of singlet exciton fission in tetracene are independent of temperature (10–270 K). Low-intensity, broad-band measurements allow the identification of spectral features while
