Molecular dynamics simulation is applied to study the friction between two talc (001) surfaces. The friction is large for commensurate contact (misfit angle of 0°) and small for incommensurate contact (misfit angle of 30°).

Periodic density functional calculations have been performed to study a mechanism of passivation of Mg-doped GaN by hydrogen. Optimizing different initial positions of hydrogen we found some favorable positions for the hydrogen atoms within the unit

The perpendicular forces acting on Pt adatoms from Pt(100) surfaces are presented using the embedded-atom method. The force maps are classified into four force regions. When the adatom is very close to the surface the force is repulsive (region 1). T

The structure and dynamics of various atoms of the most common primary structure in heteropoly compounds, namely the Keggin structure were analyzed by molecular dynamics (MD). The atoms in the primary structure were found to remain rigid at 300 K. Th

Atomic level AFM images of a cleaved (010) surface of stilbite, a natural zeolite, were obtained under ambient conditions. Two types of images were observed: one showing a surface which is close to bulk termination and the other showing a different a
