Purpose: Tissue autofluorescence study is a promising means of endoscopic detection of colonic neoplasia, but the mechanism of autofluorescence eruption has still not been verified. The purpose of this study was to precisely analyze the autofluoresce

Background The mucosal layer of the colon contains metabolism-related fluorophores, such as reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH), which might have the potential to serve as biomarkers for detecting neoplasia. Objective To examine NADH flu

Fluorescent labeled monoclonal antibodies against carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) may provide a specific label for lesions of the GI tract. We previously developed an indocyanine green (ICG) derivative (ICG N-hydroxy sulfo succinimide ester; ICG-sulfo

Object An indocyanine green derivative (ICG-sulfo-OSu) was used as the labeling substance for monoclonal antibody, and a fluorescence imaging system appropriate for ICG-sulfo-OSu excitable by infrared rays (IR) was developed. The goal of this study w

Recently autofluorescence imaging (AFI) endoscopy, visualizing tissue fluorescence in combination with reflected light, has been adopted as a technique for detecting neoplasms in the colon and other organs. However, autofluorescence colonoscopy is no

Autofluorescence endoscopy is a promising modality for diagnosis of colonic tumors. This article discusses the origin of autofluorescence of the normal colon. Excised normal colons were analyzed by using fluorescence stereomicroscopy and a fluorescen
