Different spectrophotometric “patterns” of xanthochromic compounds in the CSF may be found in cerebrovascular diseases. In about 1000 such cases the CSF was examined spectrophotometrically. Specific clinical diagnoses of thrombo-embolic or haemor

The CSF and sera of 17 patients with meningoencephalitis or encephalitis, 10 with meningitis or meningomyelitis, 5 subjects with postencephalitic sequelae and 2 with arachnoiditis were studied. Diseases involving the intracranial CNS parenchyma were

Isotachophoresis of CSF proteins seems to be a very promising method. Very small CSF samples, a few μl of concentrated and 15–30 μl of unconcentrated CSF, can be quickly analysed (30–60 min), and the results immediately obtained on a recorder.

Twelve patients with 13 cerebrovascular incidents presenting with atypical clinical patterns where the combination of CSF spectrophotometry (CSF-SPE) and computerized transverse axial tomography (CTAT, “EMI-scanning”) showed cerebral haematomas,

In the very few previous investigations of the CSF-proteins in muscular dystrophies the results have generally been reported as normal. In spinal muscular atrophies a barrier-damage pattern of CSF-proteins has been found in amyotrophic lateral sclero

In 52 patients under the age of 55 with verified ischemic cerebrovascular disease parameters of blood coagulation, platelet function and fibrinolysis were measured at a stage after the onset of disease when the acute phase reactions are presumed to h

Xanthochromic compounds in the CSF were studied with direct spectrophotometry (650-350 nm) as well as with spectrophotometry of the concentrated (ultrafiltered) CSF, the CSF ultrafiltrates, and the electrophoretically-separated CSF. The xanthochromic
