A process has been developed that enables the rapid chemical vapor deposition of superconducting YBa2Cu3Ox. In this process a finely ground mixture of Y(tmhd)3, Ba(tmhd)2, and Cu(tmhd)2 (tmhd=2,2,6,6‐tetramethyl‐3,5‐heptanedionate) is slowly fe
Hybrid high-temperature superconducting (HTS) current leads employing a conventional vapor-cooled lead upper stage and a HTS lead lower stage made from YBCO compound were fabricated and then testing in magnetic fields as high as 9 T, with currents up

Superconducting-coil systems are usually contained in metal dewars so that the liquid helium level cannot be viewed directly. The liquid level can be monitored at fixed points by means of various level detectors [1–4]. However, a simple detector wh

Magnetomorphic oscillations periodic in the magnetic field have been observed in transverse magnetic fields in the transport coefficients of a cadmium single crystal at liquid-helium temperatures. The experimental coefficients in which magnetomorphic

A rapid, controllable process for CVD of superconducting Yba2Cu30x has been developed. The new process relies on slowly feeding and pneumatically transporting powdered solid reagents directly into the CVD furnace; vaporizers are not used. Deposition

The major instability problem in Nb3Sn ribbon superconductors is known to be due to flux jumps caused by magnetic field components perpendicular to the face of the ribbons (H$$_\perp$$). Likewise, techniques which are intended to prevent this instabi

The availability of a continuous fast responding linear liquid level indicator! has made possible the measurement of fluctuations of the surface of a liquid helium bath. Liquid level fluctuations can be caused by such things as mechanical vibrations,

A new technique is described for constructing vapor cooled leads used to introduce electrical currents into liquid helium. Using this method, leads can be constructed to carry optimum currents ranging from low values (less than 100 A) to very high va
