High-spin states in the transitional nucleus 184Pt were populated via the reactions 154Sm(34S, 4n)184Pt and 172Yb(16O, 4n)184Pt. The yrast band was extended up to I = 28 ħ and six new side bands built on both neutron and proton quasiparticle configu

The parasitic excitation of bulk acoustic waves at high frequencies in synchronous leaky surface-acoustic wave resonators is studied experimentally in 36/spl deg/ and 42/spl deg/ YX-cut lithium tantalate. To characterize the strength of the bulk-wave

Alpha-particle energy spectra and angular distributions with respect to the estimated spin direction of residual nuclei have been measured in heavy-ion fusion reactions. The spin direction was determined for each event by measuring the {gamma}-ray an

The energy levels of even 110–116 pd nuclei have been studied from β-decays of odd-odd 110–116 Rh isotopes produced at the on-line isotope separator IGISOL. Two β-decaying states with I π = 1 + and I ⩾4 have been identified in all the cases.

A detailed procedure is outlined that permits one to deduce the spin direction in heavy-ion fusion reactions on an event-by-event basis using data from the spin spectrometer at the Holifield Heavy Ion Research Facility of Oak Ridge National Laborator

Levels in 208At were populated in the 209Bi(α, 5n) reaction, and the subsequent radiation was studied using γ-spectroscopic methods including γ-ray excitation function and angular distribution, γγ(t) coincidence and γt measurements, as well as

Excited states in 198 Pb were populated through the reaction 192 Os( 12 C, 6n) 198 Pb at E lab = 100–106 MeV. The subsequent de-excitation was studied using conventional in-beam γ-ray and conversion-electron spectroscopic methods including γγ co
