The atmosphere and ocean are described by highly oscillatory PDEs that challenge both our understanding of their dynamics and their numerical approximation. This paper presents a preliminary numerical study of one type of phase averaging applied to m

Pattern formation in clouds is a well-known feature, which can be observed almost every day. However, the guiding processes for structure formation are mostly unknown, and also theoretical investigations of cloud patterns are quite rare. From many sc

Clouds are important components of the atmosphere. Since it is usually not possible to treat them as ensembles of huge numbers of particles, parameterizations on the basis of averaged quantities (mass and/or number concentration) must be derived. Sin

We present new implicit-explicit (IMEX) finite volume schemes for numerical simulation of cloud dynamics. We use weakly compressible equations to describe fluid dynamics and a system of advection-diffusion-reaction equations to model cloud dynamics.
