The fact that the popular head loss coefficient concept, may become negative in branched junctions, is a symptom that something is not correctly managed. The paper makes a review of recent works which have sought new models based on physical concepts

[EN] The target of the paper is to study how to devise an efficient discrete-event model for the yearly energy simulation of buildings. Conventionally, software tools use time-driven schemes and many components must be computed at every sampling time

The paper analyses how to compute the steady-state flow distribution through a given network by using the Minimum Entropy Production (MinEP) principle. For isothermal and incompressible flows, this is equivalent to the minimal dissipation of energy.

[EN] A popular method to obtain the 1-D conduction heat transfer of multi-layered plane geometries is attrib- uted to Stephenson and Mitalas (1971) and Mitalas (1968). It is applied in different forms known as; CTF (Conduction Transfer Functions) or

This paper presents the results of a series of experimental tests about the absorption of water vapour by an aqueous lithium bromide solution over a bundle of 14 smooth tubes, using an alcohol (2-ethyl-1-hexanol) as surfactant. It follows the same mu

A multi-factorial experimental test of H 2 O vapour absorption by a falling film of LiBr(aq) over an horizontal smooth tube absorber is presented. The response parameters of the study are the average convective heat transfer and mass transfer coeffic

In a previous paper [1] it was shown a proposal for a discrete event simulation (DEVS) model of a thermal zone. A quantized state integrator of order one (QSS) was used to integrate the evolution of the room air temperature. In order to increase the
