One of the most important responsibilities of a supply chain manager is to decide “how much” (or “many”) of inventory items to order and how to transport them. This paper presents four mixed-integer linear programming models to help supply ch

This paper presents three mixed-integer linear programming models to assist project managers in making decisions to compress project completion time under realistic activity time-cost relationship assumptions. The models assume nonlinear activity tim

This paper presents a mixed-integer programming model for ordering items in multi-product multi-constraint inventory systems from suppliers who offer incremental quantity discounts. The model is based on a piecewise linear approximation of the number

Operations research techniques, especially linear and integer programming, have been suggested for use in project management. Most frequently these techniques are applied to finding critical path(s) in project networks and for compressing activities

“How much to order” and “when to order” are the two fundamental issues managers have to resolve in an inventory system. Making these decisions in inventory systems with multiple products is a challenging task for managers because these decisi

Studying the fluctuations of a time series is made easier if the seasonal component is eliminated. This paper describes a new approach to seasonal adjustment which not only considers the effect of the seasonal variation upon the observed phenomena, b

A procedure is presented for removing the influence of seasonal variation from an observed time series. The procedure leads to the development of moving average filters which optimally adjust the data based upon their unique characteristics. In this
