First-order-accurate degenerate variational integration (DVI) was introduced in Ellison et al. (Phys. Plasmas, vol. 25, 2018, 052502) for systems with a degenerate Lagrangian, i.e. one in which the velocity-space Hessian is singular. In this paper we

We report measurements of the parity-conserving beam-normal single-spin elastic scattering asymmetries $B_n$ on $^{12}$C and $^{27}$Al, obtained with an electron beam polarized transverse to its momentum direction. These measurements add an additiona

We present nonlinear resistive MHD simulations of the response of a rotating plasma to an error field when the plasma has weakly damped linear tearing modes (TM's), stabilized by pressure gradient and favorable curvature. Favorable curvature leads to

A rotating tokamak plasma can interact resonantly with the external helical magnetic perturbations, also known as error fields. This can lead to locking and then to disruptions. We leverage machine learning (ML) methods to predict the locking events.

The fields of particle and nuclear physics have undertaken extensive programs to search for evidence of physics beyond that explained by current theories. The observation of the Higgs boson at the Large Hadron Collider completed the set of particles

A novel plasma state has been found in the presence of a uniform applied axial magnetic field in periodic cylindrical geometry. This state is driven electrostatically by helical electrodes, providing a driving field that depends on radius and $m\thet

A new plasma state has been investigated [C.~Akcay, J.~Finn, R.~Nebel and D.~Barnes, Phys.~Plasmas $\textbf{24}$, 052503 (2017)], with a uniform applied axial magnetic field in a periodic cylinder of length $L=2\pi R$, driven by helical electrodes. T
