This work evaluated the hydrodynamic properties of heparin hydrolysed at temperatures ranging from 40 °C to 80 °C in buffered acid and alkaline environments. The correlation between hydrodynamic parameters led to the conclusion that polymer conform

Heparin is a complex glycosaminoglycan, derived mainly from pig mucosa, used therapeutically for its anticoagulant activity. Yet, owing largely to the chain complexity, the progressive effects of environmental conditions on heparin structure have not

Molecular interactions between cellulose and hemicelluloses, such as xyloglucan and xylan, play an important role in the formation of ordered layers in the cell wall of higher plants. This study attempts to characterize an ordered state of a matrix c

Oat beta-glucan was partially degraded by lichenase for different periods of time. Weight-average molecular weights were obtained from SEC-RI-RALLS-Visc and ranged from 5300 to 257,200. Weight-average intrinsic viscosities ranged from 7 to 160 mL/g.

(Glucurono)arabinoxylans were extracted from barley husks and degraded with endo-beta-xylanase or subjected to periodate oxidation. The released oligosaccharide fragments were separated and isolated on Biogel-P2, and their structures were determined

Produced by the majority of trees and terrestrial plants, hemicelluloses (a set of polysaccharides) are the most abundant form of polymer after cellulose. Seeing hemicelluloses as an important yet neglected renewable resource that can move us beyond
