Laminated composites are widely used in applications when a high strength-to-weight ratio is required. Aeronautic, naval and automotive industries use these materials to reduce the weight of the vehicles and, consequently, fuel consumption. However,

The assessment of dispersive media may become a challenge due to the high attenuation ratios, anisotropy and geometrical particularities of the specimen under study. Besides, non-contact methods that preserve the integrity of samples are needed when

Polarization singularities and topological polarization structures are generic features of inhomogeneous vector wave fields of any nature. However, their experimental studies mostly remain restricted to optical waves. Here, we report the observation

Because of their great economic and social impact, coffee plants have become the center of interest in different fields of study, from biology to medical sciences. In this work, the determination of the poro-viscoelastic behavior of coffee leaves as

This paper presents a method to generate two- and three-dimensional periodic or quasi-periodic acoustic lattices in air using polygonal active diffraction gratings. The radiated field depends on design parameters and is well predictable in terms of a

We present a powerful and efficient technique to structure acoustic fields, based on the use of active diffraction elements, which can be designed in practically arbitrary shapes and can be operated within a broad spectral range of ultrasonic frequen

A detailed characterization and analysis of the acoustic field radiated by an active diffraction grating is presented. This is a spiral-shaped source of constant width of the spiral paths and spacing among them, built with flexible ferroelectrets, wh

The feasibility to easily generate a focused airborne ultrasonic helical wavefront (HW) is demonstrated. Vortex beams of great quality are obtained by gluing an electroactive ferroelectret film on an oblique open helical surface. The resultant radian
