Early surgical intervention is required to successfully treat severe, large-gap peripheral nerve injuries. However, all existing treatments have shortcomings, and for large-gap injuries (≥4 cm), there is no reported alternative to autologous nerve.

When challenged with extracellular ATP, leukocytes respond and activate processes attributed to the P2X7 receptor (P2X7R), an unusual ligand-gated ion channel. To prove P2X7R involvement, blood samples from P2X7R-deficient mice were characterized. Mo

Growth hormone (GH) and prolactin (PRL) share significant structural homology. We have previously characterized the phosphorylation of bovine PRL and wish to determine whether a similar kinase activity phosphorylates bovine GH. Phosphorylation of bov

Bovine anterior pituitary cells phosphorylate prolactin (PRL). We describe the phosphorylation of endogenous and exogenous bPRL in highly enriched subcellular fractions of bovine anterior pituitary using [gamma-32P]-ATP. 32P-labeling of endogenous an

Phosphorylation is a mechanism by which cells regulate structure and function of proteins. We have previously demonstrated in vivo synthesis and secretion of phosphorylated bovine prolactin (bPRL) from the pituitary, and have isolated and partially c
