In this article, we made a preliminary study on the main influencing factors of sparkle spots, put forward the concept of "sparklingness" to characterize the strength of sparkle spots, and proposed a standard measurement method for the sparklingness.

Ship ballast water treatment methods face many technical challenges. The effectiveness of every treatment method usually is evaluated by using large scale equipment and a large volume of samples, which involves time-consuming, laborious, and complex
