Abstract The mechanisms underlying the selective regional vulnerability to neurodegeneration in Huntington’s disease (HD) have not been fully defined. To explore the role of astrocytes in this phenomenon, we used single-nucleus and bulk RNAseq, lip

Ischemic strokes result in the death of brain tissue and a wave of downstream effects, often leading to lifelong disabilities or death. However, the underlying mechanisms of ischemic damage and repair systems remain largely unknown. In order to bette

The pathophysiologic continuum of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease begins with steatosis. Despite recent advances in our understanding of the gene regulatory program directing steatosis, how it is orchestrated at the chromatin level is unclear. PPAR

During development, two cell types born from closely related progenitor pools often express identical transcriptional regulators despite their completely distinct characteristics. This phenomenon implies the need for a mechanism that operates to segr

Gene set analysis (GSA) is useful in interpreting a genome-wide association study (GWAS) result in terms of biological mechanism. We compared the performance of two different GSA implementations that accept GWAS p-values of single nucleotide polymorp

SUMMARYPoly(ADP-ribose) (PAR) plays a crucial role in intracellular signaling and scaffolding through covalent modification or non-covalent binding to target proteins. The non- covalent binding PARylome has not been extensively characterized. Here we

Tau is a microtubule-binding protein expressed in neurons and the equal ratio between 4-repeat (4R) and 3-repeat (3R) isoforms are maintained in normal adult brain function. Dysregulation of 3R:4R ratio causes tauopathy and human neurons that recapit
