Reduction of CO2 to CO was efficiently photocatalyzed by [Re(4,4‘-X2bpy)(CO)3PR3]+ (X = H, Me; PR3 = P(OEt)3, P(O-i-Pr)3) in quantum yields of 0.16−0.20. Complexes with CF3 as X or trialkylphosphine as PR3 have much lower photocatalytic ability.

Fast time-resolved infrared (TRIR) spectroscopy has been employed to probe the electron distribution in the lowest metal-to-ligand charge-transfer excited states of [(OC)5W(4,4′-bipy)W(CO)5]1, [(OC)5W(4,4′-bipy)]2(4,4′-bipy = 4,4′-bipyridyl)

UV photolysis has been used to generate dinitrogen compounds by substitution of CO groups by N 2 in supercritical fluid solvents (scXe, scCO 2 and scC 2 H 6 ) containing high pressures of N 2 . Compounds include Cp'Mn(CO) 2 L (Cp′ C 5 H 4 Me; L

The cation Re(CO){sub 2}(2,2{prime}-bipyridyl)(P(OEt){sub 3}){sub 2}{sup +} (P {sup +}) is capable of photochemical reduction of carbon dioxide. The authors report here concerning their studies of the photophysical and photochemical properties of Re(

This article describes examples of the application of time-resolved infrared Spectroscopy (TRIR) to the probing of the excited states of transition metal species. Other “direct” methods for excited states include time-resolved absorption Spectros

Employing fast time-resolved infrared (TRIR) spectroscopy, the pattern of the ν(CO) IR bands in the lowest excited state of [(OC)5W(4,4′-bipy)W(CO)5](4,4′-bipy = 4,4′-bipyridyl) shows that the electron distribution in this state is localised o

Fast time-resolved infrared spectroscopy shows that the v(CO) bands of the important CO2-reducing complex, [ReCl(CO)3(2,2′-bipy)]1(2,2′-bipyridyl), shift up in frequency in the metal to ligand charge-transfer excited state and that the anion 1–
