We report pulse energy ~3.85mJ from 1480nm core-pumped, 6m long Er-doped VLMA fiber amplifier with 50µm core diameter and 50dB/m absorption, and diffraction-limited output, by amplifying broad-linewidth microsecond pulses at 10-kHz repetition rate.
