The activity of the Damavand volcano (Central Alborz, northern Iran) began 1.8 Ma ago and continued up to 7 ka BP. Although the volcanic suite is clearly of shoshonitic affinity, only two petrographic types can be distinguished in the studied lavas:

Resume Les compositions isotopiques en Sr et Nd d'un trachyte, de huit phonolites et de cinq basaltes ont ete mesurees. Une contamination crustale importante, contemporaine de la differenciation, n'apparait que dans le cas du trachyte. Certaines phon

Lavas of the Quaternary Damavand volcano (Central Alborz, Northern Iran) have been analysed for major and trace elements. The shoshonitic character of this magmatic series is definitively confirmed and most samples correspond to banakites. The Nb, Ta

Basaltic glasses are considered as natural analogs for industrial nuclear aluminoborosilicate glasses. Alteration experiments were conducted in closed and open systems at 90°C with a synthetic basalt glass doped with 1% lithium (dissolution tracer).

A synthetic basaltic glass was dissolved experimentally at 90°C under static conditions in initially pure water. The basaltic glass dissolution rates measured near and far from equilibrium were compared with those of SON 68 nuclear waste glass. Expe

Some tertiary and quaternary basaltic lavas from the French Massif Central with their associated amphiboles megacrysts have been analysed for major elements, transition elements, and the following trace elements : Rb, Sr, Ba, Hf, Ta, Th, U, and Rare
