Introduction: This study aimed at answering three research questions: (1) Under the experimental conditions studied, what is the dominant mechanism of Holmium:YAG lithotripsy with or without pulse modulation? (2) Under what circumstances can laser pu

Confocal microscopy provides optical sectioning that is invaluable for many applications, most notably imaging into thick samples. However, the high cost of commercial confocal microscopes limits uses to specialized research and clinical settings. We

Tissue sampling is required for disease diagnostics and research. Traditional tissue sampling tools often remove more tissue than required, causing unnecessary pain and morbidity. We report a minimally invasive laser microbiopsy system to sample sub-

Purpose Early animal studies suggest that parotid gland (PG) toxicity prediction could be improved by an accurate estimation of the radiation dose to sub-regions of the PG. Translation to clinical investigation requires voxel-level dose accumulation

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE:Pulse modulated Ho:YAG (λ=2.1 µm) laser lithotripsy (Moses) is a novel method where a first pulse creates a vapor bubble between fiber-tip and stone followed by a second ...

Lasers precisely cut tissue and are a candidate tool for minimally destructive tissue harvest. A Ho:YAG laser microbiopsy system, using two axicons and an aspheric focusing lens, successfully harvested submillimeter tissue sections from porcine skin.
