The age of weathering inferred from bedrock saprolite local to Scandinavia remains loosely constrained. Here, via K-Ar dating of authigenic, syn-weathering illite from saprolitic remnants, the authors constrain weathering to the Late Triassic.

Calcite cement often occurs locally, forming thin layers of calcite-cemented sandstone characterized by high seismic velocities and densities. Because of their strong impedance contrast with the surrounding rock, calcite-cemented intervals produce de

While machine learning (ML) provides a great tool for image analysis, obtaining accurate fracture segmentation from high-resolution core images is challenging. A major reason is that the segmentation quality of large and detailed objects, such as fra

Some of the key tasks in seismic processing involve suppressing multiples and noise that interfere with primary events. Conventional multiple attenuation on seismic prestack data is time-consuming and subjective. As an alternative, we propose model-d

Regularization and interpolation of 3D offset classes prior to imaging are an important and challenging step in the marine seismic data processing flow. Here we describe how to perform this task using a deep neural network, and we explain how to over

Seismic sequences are stratigraphic units of relatively conformable seismic reflections. These units are intervals of similar sedimentation conditions, governed by sediment supply and relative sea level, and they are key elements in understanding the

Extracting key horizons from seismic images is an important element of the seismic interpretation workflow. Although numerous computer-assisted horizon extraction methods exist, they are typically sensitive to structural and stratigraphic discontinui

Drill cores provide the most reliable fracture information in subsurface formations as they present a clear and direct view of fractures. Core observation and image log interpretation are usually integrated for fracture analysis of underground layers
