Accurate suspended sediment concentration measurements are key to understand and quantify the sediment transport patterns in the surf and swash zones. One of the most widely used instruments to collect suspended sediment concentrations is the Optical

Hydrodynamics under regular plunging breaking waves over a fixed breaker bar were studied in a large-scale wave flume. A previous paper reported on the outer flow hydrodynamics; the present paper focuses on the turbulence dynamics near the bed (up to

A large-scale wave flume experiment has been carried out involving a T = 4 s regular wave with H = 0.85 m wave height plunging over a fixed barred beach profile. Velocity profiles were measured at 12 locations along the breaker bar using LDA and ADV.

This paper presents new net transport data from the STENCIL full-scale wave flume experiments with a sediment mix of a fine (0.21 mm) and a coarse (0.58 mm) sand fraction. These and existing mixed sand transport data from full-scale oscillatory flow

Sand transport dynamics under non-breaking regular waves and wave groups are studied in a large-scale wave flume. The water surface elevation, flow velocity, suspended sand concentration (SSC) distributions, and bedforms were measured over a horizont

Large scale laboratory measurements of sediment dynamics in the swash zone are presented. Two bichromatic wave group conditions were generated, having the same energy content but different wave group period ( T g = 15.0 s and 27.7 s). For the shortes

Large asymmetric bedforms known as dunes commonly dominate the bed of sand rivers. Due to the turbulence generation over their stoss and lee sides, dunes are of central importance in predicting hydraulic roughness and water levels. During floods in s

Accurate estimation of sediment transport is critical for many fluvial processes but remains challenging due to high-frequency dynamics. Using novel acoustic flow instrumentation, we quantified the contribution of turbulent bed and suspended sediment
