Here we report on intracavity coherent beam combining (iCBC) of nine solid-state gain elements resulting in 27 W of combined power with a combining efficiency of 87% and a beam quality of M^2 = 1.7.

We present an architecture for scaling the brightness of semiconductor laser sources, demonstrating 40 W coherently combined power in a single, diffraction-limited beam from an array of 47 single-pass optical amplifiers at 1064 nm.
