Purpose : Produce a collection of software tools (computer programs) that support three-dimensional (3D) radiation therapy planning. The tools are not a complete 3D planning system. Instead, they work with any 3D planning system that meets certain mi

Representing object shape in two or three dimensions has typically involved the description of the object boundary. This paper proposes a means for characterizing object structure and shape that avoids the need to find an explicit boundary. Rather, i

Curvilinear targets are common in many imaging modalities. Detection of such targets can be challenging because of their multiscale structure, their frequent obscuration in natural imagery, their turns, intersections, and merges, and the prevalence o

Military operations in urban areas often require detailed knowledge of the location and identity of commonly occurring objects and spatial features. The ability to rapidly acquire and reason over urban scenes is critically important to such tasks as

This study is an initial investigation into the efficacy of texture operators for detection of military vehicle targets-in-the-clear in SAR imagery. The specific study is a very simple problem that aims to evaluate a particular feature set that arise

We present an approach for controlling relaxation parameters in variable conductance diffusion. This approach incorporates a Bayesian classifier to perform a partial labeling of an image, followed by a diffusion step. Conductance values between pixel

Multiscale geometric image structure analysis is used to produce a hierarchical labeling of image regions. The regions provide a language for fast, interactive object definition. The approach allows human analysts to quickly inject semantics into the

An algorithm for labeling image regions based on pixel-level statistical pattern recognition is presented. The structure of multiscale regions about each pixel is measured by means of isotropic Gaussian filters and by a multiscale orientation field.

A representation of image intensity structure, the multiscale orientation field (MOF), is described, and its application to biomedical image segmentation is discussed. The MOF is composed of orientation vectors at every pixel and at multiple scales.
