A metallic-sample arc-furnace was modified to synthesize fullerenes and nanotubes. The (reversible) changes and the process for producing single-wall nanotubes (SWNTs) are described.

The resistivity of CePt has been measured between 1.9 and 300 K. CePt orders ferromagnetically at 5.8 K. Its ferromagnetic state resistivity increases as T3 above a constant residual term. This correlates with a T3 term in the magnetic specific heat.
