We report X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) of Cu and O K-edges of superconducting [Bi(Pb)] 2 Sr 2 CaCu 2 O 8+ δ (Bi-2212) and [Bi(Pb)] 2 Sr 2 Ca 2 Cu 3 O 10+ δ (Bi-2223) compounds. The spectral features of these two systems are compared
