Standard electronic devices encode bits of information by controlling the amount of electric charge in the circuits. Alternatively, it is possible to make devices that rely on other properties of electrons than their charge. For example, spintronic d

There is significant academic and industrial interest in developing electronic devices for high-frequency, high-power and high-temperature applications. This interest has generated considerable research efforts in wide-bandgap semiconductors. Of thes

The stability of valley polarized electron states is crucial for the development of valleytronics. A long relaxation time of the valley polarization is required to enable operations to be performed on the polarized states. Here we investigate the sta

Diamond is a unique material in many respects. One of the most well-known extreme properties of diamond is its ultrahardness. This property of diamond actually turns out to have interesting consequences for charge transport, in particular at low temp

In this paper we report an experimental study of photocurrent mobility×lifetime products and free carrier lifetimes in CVD grown polycrystalline diamond of various qualities. The investigated samples are low impurity samples, nitrogen content ∼10

Strain states in buried lattice-mismatched quantum wires are studied by polarization analysis with high magnetic fields. Remarkably large in-plane polarization anisotropy is observed, which remains even in very high fields. These results cannot be ex

Low‐temperature luminescence and magnetoluminescence experiments have been performed on n‐type modulation‐doped lattice‐mismatched InAsxP1−x/InP quantum‐well wires. From these experiments we can obtain information about the conduction‐b

Lateral size effects for optical response of lattice-mismatched InAsP InP quantum wires are investigated. We observed clear size-dependent blue shift in photoluminescence peak energy, which is markedly larger than lattice-matched quantum wires. High
