Heavy oil extraction requires heat introduction to the reservoir to enhance the mobility of oil. While steam injection is one of the most reliable thermal EOR methods for heat introduction, it has several operational, technical, economic, and environ

A flux-corrected transport scheme due to Zalesak is used to carry out a numerical simulation of thermal convection in a two-dimensional layer of ideal, diatomic gas, which is heated from below and stratified gravitationally across many pressure scale

The origin of Jupiter and the Galilean satellite system is examined in the light of the new data that has been obtained by the NASA Galileo Project. In particular, special attention is given to a theory of satellite origin which was put forward at th

A theory for the origin and bulk chemical composition of the Galilean satellites is presented — to coincide with the start of the 2-year orbital tour of this satellite system by the Galileo Orbiter. The theory is based on the author's modern Laplac

Using the ARGUS detector at the e+e− storage ring DORIS II at DESY, we have made two measurements of the mixing parameter χd using kaons as flavour tags. Using D∗+ K± correlations we found χd = 0.20 ± 0.13 ± 0.12 and from the study of (D∗+

A maximum likelihood analysis of ARGUS data on two-photon production of π+π+π0π0π−π− is presented. A small fraction of events is due to the production of omega pairs. The γγ → ωω cross section has its maximum value close to threshold.

The close flypast of Jupiter's moon Io by the Galileo Orbiter on December 7, 1995 has provided a rare and important opportunity to test a theoretical model for the origin and bulk chemical composition of this body. The calculations suggest that the i
