While subnational authorities strongly mobilize in Brussels, they do not lobby all EU-level venues to the same extent. This article explains the varying intensity with which regional offices interact with various EU-level policy-making venues when se

We combine data from SDSS and the GALEX and Spitzer observatories to create a sample of galaxies observed homogeneously from the UV to the Far-IR. This sample, consisting of ~460 galaxies observed spectroscopically by SDSS provides a multiwavelength

New GALEX observations have detected significant FUV (1530 Angstroms) and NUV (2310 Angstroms) emission from stellar substructures within the tidal tails of four ongoing galaxy mergers. The UV-bright regions are optically faint and are coincident wit

This work presents the main ultraviolet (UV) and far-infrared (FIR) properties of two samples of nearby galaxies selected from the GALEX ($\lambda = 2315$\AA, hereafter NUV) and IRAS ($\lambda = 60\mu$m) surveys respectively. They are built in order

We present the first measurement of the galaxy luminosity function (LF) at 1500 Å in the range 0.2=alpha>=-1.65, with a marginally significant hint of increase at higher z. (3) We split the sample in three rest-frame (B-I) intervals, providing an ap

In a companion paper (Arnouts et al. 2004) we presented new measurements of the galaxy luminosity function at 1500 Angstroms out to z~1 using GALEX-VVDS observations (1039 galaxies with NUV0.2) and at higher z using existing data sets. In this paper

We have built two samples of galaxies selected at 0.2micron (hereafter UV) and 60micron (hereafter FIR) covering a sky area of 35.36 deg^2. The UV selected sample contains 25 galaxies brighter than AB_0.2=17mag. All of them, but one elliptical, are d

Geometrical reordering of a focal image with optical fibers allows to obtain simultaneous spectra of all the points chosen in a given field. That could increase noticeably the efficiency of telescopes. We designed a spectrograph ("SILFID") for the Ca
