A differential invariant is found for null fields of arbitrary spin. For null gravitational fields, the invariant is identified as that of Bicac and Pravda; its derivation from the Bel-Robinson tensor is given; and a simple expression is found for it

A new derivation is given of the Vahlen (1902) form of the local conformal transformations of Cn, v ■ (av+b)(cv+d)−1, where v∈Cn and a, b, c, d are suitable elements of the complex Clifford algebra Cl(n). The derivation is based on the homomorp

With any shear-free congruence of null geodesics in a Lorentzian geometry there is associated a Cauchy-Riemann three-space; and in certain spacetimes including the Ricci-flat spacetimes with expanding null shear-free (n.s.f.) congruences the deviatio

A completely symmetrical form of the Bel - Robinson (BR) tensor is shown to give rise, in n-dimensional Lorentzian space, to a gravitational density. For n = 4, a physical identification is proposed.

Scientists of 1965 see the universe with diverse eyes. They look with the two‐hundred‐inch pyrex mirror on top of Mount Palomar, with a hundred thousand gallons of cleaning fluid buried more than a mile underground, with scintillation counters fl

We here present an elementary account of the algebra and geometry of bivectors and of the biquaternions they give rise to. We then proceed to show how the latter allow a detailed study of the algebra and geometry of Lorentz transformations.

An invariant of type N spacetimes is derived, and its relation to the invariant of Bicak and Pravda is examined.
