Ultrafast laser welding, hydroxide catalysis bonding (HCB) and adhesive bonding techniques were used to bond N-BK7 cubes to aluminum bases. Using a thermal chamber and polariscope, the stress induced birefringence was measured at temperatures from -5

We present an efficient high-power planar waveguide laser consisting of a 2% doped Yb:YAG core with sapphire claddings. The planar waveguide is double-side pumped at 940 nm using two custom aberration-corrected diode laser stacks which are imaged dir

A planar waveguide laser operating in a negative branch unstable resonator is Q-switched by an acoustooptic modulator in a new configuration, providing effective, high-speed switching. The laser using a 200-mum Nd:YAG core, face pumped by 10 laser di

We report a new technique for the rapid fabrication of microstripe cylindrical and toroidal mirrors with a high ratio (10) of the two principal radii of curvature (RoC(1)/RoC(2)), and demonstrate their effectiveness as mode-selecting resonator mirror

The first demonstration of coupling an Yb:KYW femtosecond laser into a high-power single-side pumped Yb:YAG planar waveguide amplifier is described. Five passes of the amplifier yielded 700 fs pulses with average powers of 50 W.

A novel toroidal micro-stripe mirror, produced by laser machining, provides transverse mode selection in a hybrid waveguide-unstable resonator. The Yb:YAG-sapphire composite planar waveguide laser produces 326 W at high beam quality.

A planar waveguide laser consisting of a 13mm x 12mm x 150μm Yb:YAG core with 1mm high sapphire claddings is edge pumped using two 450W diode stacks with custom aberration correcting phase-plates. A plano-concave resonator gives 400W average power i
