4-(9-Acridinyl)phenylhydrazones and phenylhydrazides were obtained by condensation of the phenylhydrazones of aromatic aldehydes and ketones and the phenyl-hydrazides of carboxylic acids with acridinium salts in the presence of an oxidizing agent.
