The effect of the content of carbon and niobium on the kinetics of the phase transformations of austenite and on the mechanical properties of the matrix metal and of the weld-affected zone is studied. The differences in the kinetics of the austenite

The contemporary level of pipe rolling technology makes it possible to manufacture line pipes of strength class K42–K65 in corrosion- and cold-resistant versions. Pipes of this type are intended for building oil and gas pipelines that are used for

New vanadium-microalloyed reinforcement steels with improved weldability have been developed. The criteria that are used to evaluate a steel’s weldability based on its contents of carbon, manganese, silicon, and vanadium are analyzed. Results obtai

Properties are evaluated for heat-affected zone (HAZ) metal with welding of X70 strength group steels microalloyed with niobium and additions of chromium and nickel. The evaluation criteria used were determination of parameters of the upper, medium,

Reinforcing steel weldability criteria are presented for ferroconcrete structures. Features of resistance spot welding and resistance butt welding are reflected. The effect of different alloy steel compositions and corresponding carbon equivalent val

The increase being seen in the thickness of the wall of large-diameter pipes is requiring an increase in heat input to form the longitudinal weld on these pipes. Increasing the heat input in turn slows the cooling of the heat-affected zone (HAZ) and

Criteria are formulated for evaluating weldability on the basis of methods simulating welding thermal cycles and analysis of austenite polymorphic transformation kinetics in the thermally affected zone. Results are provided for evaluating the joint h

The problem is considered of improving impact strength and brittle failure resistance of heat-affected zone (HAZ) metal during welding of thick-walled (30–40 mm) gas pipelines. It is shown that the best HAZ properties are obtained in the case of fo

Tests were performed of several variants for making steels from naturally alloyed pig iron. No decrease in the strength characteristics of the steels was seen with lower contents of manganese (to 1.0%) and carbon (0.07–0.12%).
