The magnetization of MCl 2 -GIC (MNi and Co) has been investigated in high magnetic fields up to 10 Tesla at 4.2K. NiCl 2 -GIC showed very weak magnetic anisotropy, but CoCl 2 -GIC showed very strong anisotrophy with magnetization in the c-plane.
