Blastoschizomyces capitatus Salkin, Gordon, Samsonoff et Rieder was found to be the etiologic agent of endocarditis in a patient with a prosthetic mitral valve. Cultures inoculated with peripheral blood and portions of the valve yielded B. capitatus.
