Fire–resistant properties of Mo-/Nb-added structural steels were evaluated using hot tension tests and constant-load tests. Hot tension tests showed that an increase in the Mo and Nb contents led to a slow decrease in the strength as the holding ti

Hot deformation characteristics of a 25Cr–6Mn–3Ni–1Mo–3W lean duplex stainless steel containing high C and N contents were elucidated. Hot compression tests were performed at temperatures of 600–1100 °C and strain rates of 0.01–10 s−1.

Fire resistance of structural steels used in buildings is typically evaluated based on the ratio of the yield strength at 600 °C to that at room temperature. Fire-resistant steel shows a yield strength ratio of more than 2:3 between 600 °C and room

In this study, the resistance to pitting corrosion of Fe-18Cr-9Mn-5.5Ni-0.3(C + N) austenitic stainless steel γ-SSs (in wt%) with different C/(C + N) ratios (0.02, 0.29, and 0.60) was evaluated. It was found to be difficult to form a γ-matrix witho

The microstructural evolution and fire-resistant properties in the weld heat-affected zone (HAZ) of Mo and Mo + Nb-added fire-resistant steels were investigated. For this purpose, three Fe-0.1 wt%C-1.5 wt%Mn-0.1 wt%Si steels containing various Mo and

Steel is the global backbone material of industrialized societies, with more than 1.8 billion tons produced per year. However, steel-containing structures decay due to corrosion, destroying annually 3.4% (2.5 trillion US$) of the global gross domesti
