Abstract We present a numerically-optimized multipulse framework for the quantum control of a single-electron double quantum dot qubit. Our framework defines a set of pulse sequences, necessary for the manipulation of the ideal qubit basis, that avoi

The expansion of copper mining on the hyper-arid pacific slope of Southern Peru has precipitated growing concern for scarce water resources in the region. Located in the headwaters of the Torata river, in the department of Moquegua, the Cuajone mine,

In quantum metrology (as well as computing) it is not easy to pinpoint the specific source of quantum advantage. Here, the authors reveal a link between postselection and the unusually high rates of information per final measurement in general quantu

Surface acoustic waves are promising candidates to convey flying qubits through semiconductor circuits. The authors investigate the central building block of such a circuit in an experiment and present a route to realise quantum logic gates with flyi

Surface acoustic waves (SAWs) can create moving quantum dots in piezoelectric materials. Here we show how electron-spin qubits located on dynamic quantum dots can be entangled. Previous theoretical and numerical models of quantum-dot entanglement gen

Surface acoustic waves (SAWs) strongly modulate the shallow electric potential in piezoelectric materials. In semiconductor heterostructures such as GaAs/AlGaAs, SAWs can thus be employed to transfer individual electrons between distant quantum dots.

We show that postselection offers a nonclassical advantage in metrology. In every parameter-estimation experiment, the final measurement or the postprocessing incurs some cost. Postselection can improve the rate of Fisher information (the average inf

The detection of a silent interval or gap provides important insight into temporal processing by the auditory system. Previous research has uncovered a multitude of empirical findings leaving the mechanism of gap detection poorly understood and key i

Gap detection is an important measure of the temporal resolution of the auditory system. We present a model of gap detection involving the statistics of peripheral auditory neural activity: detecting a gap involves the detection of an interval that i
