Prime numbers are the multiplicative building blocks of natural numbers. Understanding their overall influence and especially their distribution gives rise to central questions in mathematics and physics. In particular their finer distribution is clo

We review the various proofs of Kronecker’s theorem concerning inhomogeneous Diophantine approximation, we discuss in detail the quantitative approaches of Turan (1960) and Chen (2000), and we derive strong localized versions of these theorems.

Stones are placed randomly on an board, one at a time, with no more than one stone per unit cell. By means of a two-dimensional cross-classification, a formula is derived for the probability that a row becomes full (with stones) at a time when there

By introducing the Rademacher-Menchov device, we prove “maximal” analogs of principal bounds of character sums. This allows us to present the Burgess method so as to separate the main idea of this method from the technical issues.

We prove the equivalence of three formulations of the Riemann hypothesis for functions f defined by the four assumptions: (a 1) f satisfies the functional equation f(1 − s) = f(s) for the complex argument s ≡ σ + iτ, (a2) f is free of any pole,
