The Sc2.0 consortia is reengineering the yeast genome. To expand the Sc2.0 genetic repertoire, the authors build a neo-chromosome comprising variable loci from diverse yeast isolates, providing phenotypic plasticity for use in synthetic backgrounds.

SummaryWe have designed, constructed, and debugged a synthetic 753,096 bp version of Saccharomyces cerevisiae chromosome XIV as part of the international Sc2.0 project. We showed that certain synthetic loxPsym recombination sites can interfere with m

Salinity is a major constraint on rice productivity worldwide. However, mechanisms of salt tolerance in wild rice relatives are unknown. Root microsomal proteins are extracted from two Oryza australiensis accessions contrasting in salt tolerance. Who

Alcohol is fundamental to the character of wine, yet too much can put a wine off-balance. A wine is regarded to be well balanced if its alcoholic strength, acidity, sweetness, fruitiness and tannin structure complement each other so that no single co
