Collective isospin-spin excitations and Gamow-Teller strength

The (p, n) reaction at intermediate energies is a sensitive tool for the study of isospin-spin correlations in nuclei. For heavy nuclei the neutron-spectra are at forward angle dominated by transitions corresponding to excitation of collective states
