Glycogen phosphorylase b modified by NaBH4 and aliphatic aldehydes of varying chain length: ranging from acetaldehyde to n-heptanaldehyde were purified by heat-treatment. Kinetic studies showed that the various purified enzyme derivatives were simila

In the presence of 5 mm spermine, glycogen phosphorylase b may be activated by IMP to 70% to 90% of AMP activation. Incubation of the enzyme with trypsin results in a differential loss in IMP and AMP activation of the enzyme. The time course of the t

Dihydrojasmone has been synthesized in three steps from the dithiane 2. Hydrolysis of vinylic chloride and a dithioacetal group was achieved simultaneously using sulfuric acid. The scope of this dethioacetalization procedure has been explored.

The hard and soft acids and bases (HSAB) principle, which states that hard acids bind preferentially to hard bases and soft acids to soft bases, may serve to assess specific chemico-biological interactions. As living systems are composed mainly of "h

Modification of glycogen phosphorylase b with NaBH4 and various homologous aliphatic aldehydes, from acetaldehyde to heptaldehyde, resulted in enzyme derivatives which exhibited enhanced resistance against heat and cold inactivations. Concentrations
